Roy Scottie Miller passed away April 7,
2006, after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer.
Roy was born in Castroville on
September 27, 1942, and grew up at Medina Lake. He was a dedicated and
loyal employee of Southwest Research Institute for 38 years. After his
retirement, he focused on his many interests, including fishing,
hunting, gardening, & and ranch work.
Roy distinguished his life with a
simple dignity borne of honesty, hard work, and a gentle heart that
sought to help those in need. He was the rare breed of man who, by his
words and conduct, earned more friends than he knew, and harbored
malice toward none.
He was, in short, a man who set
standards of dignity and virtue by which others measured themselves.
Roy did not "Talk the Talk", he "Walked the Walk".
Roy was preceded in death by his
parents, Walter Scott and Emma Miller. Roy is survived by his loving
wife of 20 years, Kathy Marie Miller; daughters, Lana Hardy and
husband Brent, and Shari Miller;, grandsons; Allan Hunter Rohan and
Matthew Tafolla; sisters; Lena Covey, Linda McGrath and husband Tim;
brother, Gilbert Miller and wife Mary; brother-in-law, Lee Upshaw and
wife Geraldine, sisters- in-law, Margo Ray and Nanette Till; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy's kind, caring and loving nature
will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Private Memorial to honor his life
will be held with his immediate family to honor his life.
