Born
in Sinton, Texas, near Corpus Christi on July 26, 1918, Virginia
Abbott Moller passed away peacefully on April 5, 2006 in Kerrville,
Texas. Virginia lived in south Texas most of her life, residing in
Corpus Christi until 1981 when she relocated to San Antonio. In 1997
she moved to Northern Virginia to live near her daughter and
son-in-law, Ginger and Robby Robertson until they all relocated to
Kerrville in 2000.Growing up
with three brothers helped mold her into an avid sportswoman and
energetic competitor. She was a championship golfer through her senior
years playing in many different states and serving on boards of local,
state and national golf associations. She was an excellent markswoman
and each year trophy deer; turkey, quail and dove were a part of
mealtimes.
After the death of her husband in the
late 70’s Virginia continued to stay active and involved with family
and friends through the 90’s. Dementia began to take its toll in 2000
but Virginia’s determination and spirit carried her on to her 87th
year.
Our memories are varied. She was an
involved and loving parent, sister, aunt and grandmother as well as a
mentor. Her great and creative cooking and gardening made any house a
home. The products of her accomplishments as a tailor of clothing,
needlepoint and knitting are still treasured. She was an aggressive
and very competitive card player – bridge, duplicate bridge, canasta,
gin and poker. She was always organized and efficient in whatever she
undertook. She is best remembered smiling and quick to laugh at a
joke, herself or the tricks life plays on us all.
Her family has infinite respect and
pride for all she accomplished and she will be dearly missed. She
raised her children to be caring and polite; to have a strong sense of
independence and be respectful of all life has to offer. She insisted
they pay attention to those that crossed their paths and do as she
did, recognize each as a unique individual and take time to recognize
their special gifts.
The family is especially grateful to
her caregivers in Kerrville – The Haven in the Texas Hill Country,
Judy, Alta, Sandra, Glyniss and the entire staff. Also, Margie, Kathy,
Debbie, Maria, Dee, Amy, and Delia. To those angels who have been
there more recently, there truly is a place in heaven for you all –
Brenda, Beverly, Diana, Esther, Jessica and Ninfa.
And with love and appreciation to
Debra whose devotion, understanding, skill, trust, loyalty and love
inspire us all. You are an exceptional person, thank-you.
Her husband, G. Turner Moller MD,
preceded her in death in the late 70’s and their son, John H. Moller,
after a sudden illness, died December 24, 2006.
Survivors include: John and Maxine
Abbott and their family of Harlingen; Weems and Nina Moller and Ginger
and Robby Robertson of Kerrville; Turner and Judy Moller and their
family of Corpus Christi and Houston; Liz Moller and John Moller Jr.
of Rockport as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and
friends.
In lieu of flowers or other
remembrances a donation may be made in Virginia Moller’s name to Vista
Care Hospice, 1001 Water Street, Ste B-100, Kerrville, TX 78028.
Kelly, Connie, Linda and the entire staff have performed
professionally with great care and understanding in guiding us through
this time.
A joyful memorial celebration of
Virginia’s life will be held in Kerrville on April 29 for friends and
family. |
