Donald Edward Nunns was born May 18,
1938 in New York City to Edward and Margaret Nunns. He died at his
home in Junction, TX on April 11, 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of
the home; one daughter, Wendy Cowley and her husband, Dave of
Richland, WA; one son, Andrew Nunns and his wife, Carol of St.
Charles, IL. He is also survived by one grandchild, Henry Nunns of St.
Charles, IL and his step-family, including Kent and Gisele Berry and
J.T. of Port Lavaca, TX, and the extended Hagood family members of the
Junction area. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first
wife, whom he married in New York City in 1961. She died in 1997.
Donald graduated from Brooklyn Tech
High School in 1956 and from City College of New York in 1960. He was
a Civil Engineer.
He served in the US Army, stationed
first at the Dugway Utah Proving and Testing site and later at
Orleans, France. After the Army, he was employed by Parsons
Brinkerhoff, an international engineering firm with headquarters in
Manhattan. He was assigned to the New York City office until the
mid-seventies when the company moved him to Atlanta. From Atlanta, he
was moved to projects in Miami, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Los Angeles area
and finally to Austin. He retired from Parsons Brinkerhoff as Vice
President in November of 2003 after a long and varied career.
A memorial service will be held
Saturday, April 15, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of
Junction.
