Mary L. Tarnow, a resident of Kerrville for over 30 years, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 after a short illness. She was 88 years old.

Mary was preceded in death by her best friend and love of her life, Fred W. Tarnow, who died May 30, 2003. They were married on February 7, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois after Fred returned from 4 years of combat duty with the Army in the Pacific Theatre.

Mary operated her own beauty shop in Illinois for over 30 years, while Fred worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company.

One of the joys of Mary’s life was singing in church choirs and with other community ensembles. She and Fred were frequent volunteers at Dietert Senior Center. They delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.

A graveside service shall be performed on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 1:45 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, where Mary will be laid to rest beside Fred.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Fred and Mary’s name to the New Building Fund at Dietert Senior Center, 617 Jefferson St., Kerrville, Texas 78028.
