William Gordon Vickers, Jr., affectionately known as Gordon or Gordie, passed away on June 17, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 83. He was a resident of Kerrville, Texas.
Gordon was born in McAllen, Texas, to Clayra and William Gordon Vickers, Sr. He attended school in Donna and graduated from Donna High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army after being drafted into military service.
On December 22, 1993, Gordon married Rachel Christina Evins, in McAllen, Texas. Together they shared many years of love, faith, and devotion.
Music was one of Gordon's greatest passions and a gift he shared generously throughout his life. An accomplished drummer, he performed with numerous bands and artists over the years, including performers associated with The Hee Haw Show, Willie Nelson, Zion's Rock, The Dietert Center Band, and many others. Whether on stage before an audience or behind the drums in his church worship band, Gordon found joy in bringing people together through music. His talent, dedication, and love for his craft touched countless lives and remained a defining part of who he was throughout his life.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Clayra and William Gordon Vickers, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Vickers; his daughter, Christina Ruth (Vickers) Neal; his son-in-law, Trey Neal; his granddaughter, Annie Blaire Neal; and his grandson, Nolan James Neal.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, July 11, 2026 at First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Gordon's memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Kim Hardin, nurse at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, and to all those who have offered support, prayers, and kindness during this difficult time.
Gordon will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who were blessed to know him. His love of music, unwavering faith, generous spirit, and devotion to those he loved will be remembered and cherished by all whose lives he touched.
