Janis Beth Capps Banner passed away peacefully at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and service. She was born on April 7, 1938, in Mason, Texas, to J.B. Capps and Dorothy Saunders Capps.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. Capps and Dorothy Saunders Capps; her beloved husband, Macon Banner; her cherished daughter, Jessica Blair Jones Wright; and her beloved nephew, Shaun Capps.

She is survived by her loving children, Julie Beth Jones Brown of Kerrville, Texas; Jennifer Bliss Jones Hurst of Comfort, Texas; and Bryan Frank Jones of Sherwood, Arkansas. She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Amy Updegrove of Austin, Texas, and Kim Storms of San Antonio, Texas; her brother, Randall Wylie Capps and his wife, Joyce Capps; her nephews, Wran Capps and Brandon Capps; fifteen beloved grandchildren; and ten treasured great-grandchildren.

She spent her childhood on a large ranch south of Uvalde in Batesville, Texas, where she developed a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and the beauty of God's creation. She attended Uvalde High School and, upon graduation, entered Abilene Christian University in 1956, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education.

A devoted Christian, Janis' faith was the foundation of everything she did. She was a longtime member of Riverside Church of Christ in Kerrville, Texas, where she faithfully served and found strength in her relationship with the Lord and in the fellowship of her dear friends.

Throughout her life, Janis embraced many roles with grace and dedication. She was a teacher, a loving stay-at-home mother, an accomplished interior decorator, and later returned to the classroom as a beloved teacher in Comfort, Texas. She touched the lives of countless students, friends, and family members with her kindness, wisdom, and generous spirit.

Janis was married to Bill Jones from 1960 until 1985. Together they welcomed four children: Julie Beth Jones Brown, Jennifer Bliss Jones Hurst, Jessica Blair Jones Wright, and Bryan Frank Jones. She later married the love of her later years, Macon Banner, and lovingly welcomed his daughters, Amy Updegrove and Kim Storms, into her family.

Her memory will live on with her family and friends.

"Janis and I taught at Comfort Elementary School many years ago. We didn't teach the same grade so I didn't know her very well. I am sorry for your loss. May God shower you with his grace!"
