Woodrow ''Woody'' Wilson Wiederkehr went Home to his Heavenly Father on January 4, 2023 at 19:44 pm in Kerrville, TX. He was surround by his loved ones.

He was born in Freer, TX on July 20, 1944 to Woodrow Wilson Wiederkehr and Mettie Lilian Wiederkehr on the family ranch he loved dearly. He's survived by his wife, Brenda Meyers Wiederkehr; a daughter, Tonya Rene Dawson; granddaughter, Chelsea Lynn Crawford (Christopher); and one Amazing great-grandson Easton Crawford, who brought many smiles and laughter every day; 2 sisters, Dolores Butler and Darla Lee; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He graduated High School in Port Lavaca, TX and attended Uvalde Jr. College and Sul Ross State University State College in Alpine, TX. He was a cowboy, rancher, welder, avid hunter, loved bow hunting, a friend and a man of many talents. Woody loved to sing and God Blessed him with a beautiful voice, he sang a cappella. He was a Specialty Welder for TD Industries in Farmers Branch, TX for 18 yrs. and retired in 2011. He was a man of God and served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ his entire life in various capacities. He was truly the Salt of the Earth and to him his greatest desire in this life was to capture souls for Jesus.

He married in 1969 and shared over 54 years of a romance and marriage with his wife Brenda, the Love of His Life. At times they could pinch each other's heads off, but the one thing that made their marriage strong is their commitment to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Woody loved the ranch where he was born and it was the first Love of His Life, the brush country in Duval County was unique, in that the majority of plant life is thorny; what doesn't stick you, scratches or bites. He was mesmerized by the beauty of God's creation, i.e. the vegetation, caliche, birds and wildlife. His heavenly place on this earth was the ranch. Prior to his death, he was blessed to have enjoyed 6 days there. Through all the adversities that he encountered in life including 3 cancer diagnosis, he always chose to focus on the many blessings that dominated his life. He believed and confidently trusted his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, looking forward each day to what God had in store for him, a home in Heaven. He often reminded Brenda and others ''God Is In Control'' and proudly wore an embossed bracelet, given to him by precious Pastor, Ellen Ely. The bracelet read ''God Is Big Enough'', he cherished the Gift and never took it off.

He was extremely independent and in his last days he shared with ICU doctor what caused him a great amount of anxiety was that someone had to help him. He was a humble selfless soul. He knew who he was, his accomplishments in life, but never prideful. He gave all the Glory to God to everyone he met as well as friends, Doctors, Surgeons, and Medical Staff, who were amazed and all loved him.

Woody taught me about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from the day I met him, how to love and be sincerely loved, to laugh, and to walk in the Light so that I might be an amazing example to those I came in contact with each day. Always Believe In Yourself. He made this world a better place by shining his light of Kindness to everyone he met. He added color to the dreary black and white days. He inspired others to have hope, to never ever give up, leaving it ALL in God's Hands, His Perfect Will. Woody, treasured his family, friends and young people who made his life special.

Woody leaves a legacy of relationships that has made this world a better place and he inspired others to live a life so that they might have a heavenly home.

He was the pillar of strength and had the Faith of Job.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Our most sincere condolences to Woody's family for your loss. I am an old friend from Port Lavaca, Tx. Woody spent time with the Cooper family (mutual friends) in Port Lavaca and we went to church and Calhoun High School together. Woody was a great Christian friend and we all enjoyed youth rodeoing and singing and playing music together. I especially recall a wonderful song that I believe Woody wrote called "No Rain Today", which he sang often back then. Growing up on a farm myself, the song captured my heart. That song still goes through my mind often all these years later. Woody was a wonderful friend! I wish that we could have kept in touch. Don Cooper and I were talking about Woody just a couple years ago. May God bless your family in all that you do. Chipper and Bea Sneed, Austin, Tx.

Dear Ms. Brenda, You remain in our prayers as you and Woody both were over the years. We have such fond memories of the week during which we got to know you and your husband in the mountains of NC. He was such a generous man and we were blessed by his gracious gift to our son. Woody's obituary may be the most thoughtful and beautiful obituaries I've ever read. It also gave me insight into what he saw in my son while he played in the creek: I bet Woody saw some of his own self as he, too, loved the outdoors - all of God's Creation - as he explored the ranch in Texas.

We love you and pray you will contine to receive the love and peace that only God can give, directly, and through all of His people in your life.

In Christ,

Alan Meijer

For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

As a young kid I had many good times with Woody when visiting the family in Freer and a lot of good memories. Fast forward to a few years ago and getting to visit Woody and Brenda, enjoying his singing and catching up on our lives, which I am so thankful for. Woody was a good man, and I will always remember his strong faith in God and positive attitude to the end.

It was my complete honor to care for Woody in his fi al days; knowing that he is whole, and living in glory for eternity is immeasurable. Again. Thank you for allowing me to care for all of you. My dear sister in Christ words could not truly express the sorrow I feel for the loss of your friend, partner, confidant, and love of your life. Only having him back would satisfy that empty spot in your heart. I know your heart is broken and right now you may feel the pain will never go away but, as believers in Christ we know our Father is there to help keep us strong. You may not see it right now but, you’re an incredibly resilient and faithful child of God that may never fully recover from this but, remember grief is the price we pay for “true” love. My dear you may feel that your whole world has shattered and many ways it has but, with God’s help even now you are healing. It’s not going to be pretty and sometimes you may feel like you can’t go on but, you will. Because God promised to be there for us. Please, remember you are not alone. There are people here on earth that love you and will help you get through this my beautiful sister. It is God’s will. Woody have left you in body but, his spirit and memories will always be with you and for those reasons he still lives.

Woody was so full of the love of God he touched everyone he met. It is my privilege to be a part of the challenges and the praise reports he was always sure to share. I'm looking forward to meeting him so very soon when Jesus comes to take us to be with him forever.

Mr. Woody was one of the nicest persons I have even met, he always carried a smile on his face. My short encounter with him made me believe that the spirit of God lived in him. Despite the challenges, Mr. Woody always said He thanked God for what he has done in His life. After my encounter with him, I have learnt to thank God through the challenges I face in life. I look forward to seeing Woody again on the Resurrection Day. Please accept my condolences. Hold on to the faith like that of Woody. Find comfort in Philippians 4:7

I met Woody many years ago when Brenda and I worked in Bishop TX. I always admired the love and respect they showed for one another. Even though Woody was fighting cancer he was very encouraging and thoughtful when I was struggling with mine. He was a good and Godly man. I send prayers to Brenda and his loving family as he now rests with God.

Woody was a precious man we met at church years ago. He always had a smile and a laugh. When we moved to HV from Lewisville Branda and Woody helped us and we will never forget their love to help us and others. They lived our little kids and we enjoyed being in their home so often. He will be missed by so many people and Brenda will be in our hearts and prayers daily. Woody was a man that we all could look at for one the best examples of loving and serving Jesus.

My love for the Wiederkehr family began in 1946 and for the Myers family 1944
My heart is filled with both love and sadness for both families… My one hope is that Woody and his childhood friend Butch Howard got to have their Heavenly Reunion as Butch had gone to Heaven 4 months ahead of Woody.. Woody’s last words for Butch was to tell him I will see you soon..

Woody,
Thank you for always greeting me with your big smile and your warm hugs. I knew my day would turn around after enjoying a great conversation with you and Brenda over lunch. It saddens me that you had to leave us so early, but God always has a plan and a reason for what he does. It’s only temporary and we will see each other again. Go ahead first to and get comfy so that when we see each other again we’ll pick up right where we left off. Love you Woody and Brenda.

Brenda,
I am so sorry for your loss!! I was blessed and thank God that I had the privilege of sharing a part of our lives together. He was a man who was blessed to beat the odds just a little longer, a man with a great sense of humor, a man with love and kindness who would go outta of his way to help one in need, and a man who could be a pain in the butt sometimes :) !!!. I know there are no words that I could possibly say to bring you the comfort you need but I know with our prayers and your strong faith our good Lord will see you through. Know that I love you and I will be praying for you and your family. May Woody rest in peace.

God Bless you,
