Charles (Chuck) Norris, 88, of Kerrville, passed away on February 24, 2024, in Kerrville, Texas. He was born in Trumann, Arkansas to Edward Norris and Louise (Hodge) Norris on May 19, 1935.

Chuck grew up in Flint, Michigan. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he had his training at Fort Knox, Kentucky for Radio Operator. His first assignment was Korea just before the end of the war. Chuck left the Army after 4 years with the rank of Sergeant but reentered the Army a few years later and went to Officers School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. In 1969, he reported to Vietnam. After Vietnam, he was in El Paso, Texas and then requested to go to Germany to serve as Commanding Officer for Air Defense at the rank of Captain. It was in Germany that Chuck met the love of his life, Edda. They were married shortly there after.

In 1975, they came to the U.S. for Chuck's final assignment at Malmstrom Air Force base NORAD, in Great Falls, Montana.

Chuck left military service with two Bronze Stars, the Gallantry Medal, and multiple ARCOMS.

Chuck and his family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where they spent over 40 years owning and managing several Dairy Queen's. Chuck also worked for the Nevada Election Dept for 10 years before retiring in Kerrville.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents as well as 3 sisters and a brother.

Chuck is survived by his loving and caring wife, Edda of 50+ years; his son, Luis (Kelli) and the apple of Oma and Opa's eye, their grandson Gage of Kerrville as well as their son, Mike (Tea) and his sister, Ruth Nave of Flint, Michigan.

What a guy! We so enjoyed playing cards and chatting with Chuck. Chuck really enjoyed cards! And we looked forward to our birthdays because Chuck would make these great, personalized and humorous cards for us!

We already miss his humor and his grace. Edda, thanks so much to taking such great care of him when he struggled, and for sharing him with us when it was possible. Your love was always so obvious and he wasn't bashful about showing his love for you even when you were out getting that cup of coffee at Starbucks!
