Dr. Tonya Y. Hynds, (76), of Kerrville, passed away on January 7th, 2025, in San Antonio. She was born in Bedford, Indiana to Harold and Bonny Wray on November 19, 1948.
She earned three degrees at Purdue University, culminating in a Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Technology and Adult Education.
Dr. Hynds taught at Purdue and Texas A & M Universities, and worked for Bechtel, Fluor, and Zachry Construction Corporations, both nationally and internationally. She earned many awards for instruction and training, including a Certified Yellow Belt, Six Sigma.
She was preceded in death by her son, Grant Hynds.
Survivors include her brother, Kevin Morrow, and her sisters, Trudi Roach, Terry Morrow and ex-husband, Russ Hynds.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, February 21st, at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Scattering of her ashes will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hill Country Crisis Council.
Family and friends would like to extend thanks and gratitude to the doctors and nurses of the cardiac ICU at Methodist Hospital San Antonio.
