On April 12, 2025, an Angel was given her wings. Peggy Josephine (Krenek) Griffin Peese went home to be with our Lord and Savior.

She grew up in a small town called Elgin, Texas (Home of the famous hot guts!)

Peggy was born on May 17, 1936, to Emil and Emma (nee: Neidig) Krenek. She was her mom's birthday present. The baby of five other siblings. From stories told by her brothers Milton and Harry they came home from a minor league baseball game to a baby sister.

Her best friend Joy LaVerne Kylberg Arbuckle worked together at Scarborough department store. They would get on a train to go from Elgin to Austin then would walk down Congress Avenue in high heels to work and then back to the train.

Eventually moving to Kerrville, she worked at LCRA/KPUB. She was the one everyone knew at the window to pay their electric bills. Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital was a second job as the switchboard operator where everyone knew her voice, and was every one's friend.

She married her first husband Vernon Griffin on November 13, 1954.

His service in the Air Force eventually led them to Florida where their son Steve Griffin was born. They then moved to Corpus Christi where their daughter Verna Jo Griffin was born. Later they moved back to the Hill Country and their son Keith Griffin was born.

On October 26, 1985, she married her new love, Levi Peese. She was blessed with two other children Sandra (Peese) Reynolds and Daryl Peese. There were so many travels they went on to see family and friends, it meant so much to them.

Family was always first and foremost. The best times were our famous taco nights, and Grandma's chicken noodle soup!

Such a social butterfly, if you would to try to call, the phone was always busy. She was caring, kind and always giving. She never met a stranger.

Zion Lutheran Church was so important to her. Church family was so special to her, and she always kept them close to her heart. Peggy was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she found deep joy serving in the Quilting Circle, the Bell Choir, the Women of the Word (WoW) Bible study group, and the Altar Guild.

Her faith was the foundation of her life and a guiding light to all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her parents, Emil and Emma Krenek; siblings, Henry, Lylye, Harry, Milton, and Ruby; first husband, Vernon Griffin; and second husband, Levi Peese.

She is survived by her three children, Steve Griffin, Verna Jo Griffin, and Keith Griffin (Sharon); and two stepchildren, Sandra Reynolds (Jerry) and Daryl Peese (Kathy).

She so loved and is survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Britnie (Peese) Cowles (Jason), Dustin Griffin, Tyler Peese, Lindsey Reynolds and Tim Reynolds, Austin Cowles and Haley Cowles.

She is also survived by so many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

We will always love and miss you mama!

Honorary pallbearers will be Britnie Cowles, Dustin Griffin, Tyler Peese, Lindsey Reynolds, Tim Reynolds, Austin Cowles and Haley Cowles.

There will be a visitation Friday, April 25th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville. Interment will be on Saturday, April 26th at 12:30 pm at Garden of Memories Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, please give donations to Zion Lutheran Church and Peterson Hospice.
