It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Marie Guidry Liska Jackson, who passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, at the age of 83 in Gun Barrel City, Texas. Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and friendships.

Elaine is survived by her children, Joe Ed Liska, Jr. and his wife, Lee Ann Liska, Scott Liska and his husband, Raul Aguayo, and Donna Lynn Waldon and her husband, Rick Waldon, and grandchildren, Ross Waldon, Bradley Waldon, Jack Waldon, Catherine Liska, Michael Liska and David Avent, several great-grandchildren, and her brother, Paul Guidry.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Joe E. Liska and Edwin Jackson, her parents Morris Guidry and Eula Mae Breaux Guidry, and two of her brothers, Loyd Guidry and Robert (Bob) Guidry.

Elaine was born on October 3, 1941, in Goose Creek, Texas. She graduated high school in 1960 from Robert E. Lee High in Baytown, Texas and married her high school sweetheart, Joe Liska, a few months later. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary shortly before Joe's passing. She then married Ed Jackson and was happily married for another five years before Ed's passing in 2017.

She found joy in making knot rosaries from twine and would hand them out to anyone who wanted one. Over the years, she made hundreds of, if not thousands, of rosaries. She would even send some to Sister Mary Silvestri in Florida, who took them with her in her missionary work around the south Atlantic and in Africa.

A rosary will be held on Monday, June 30 at 6:00 pm at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, Texas. A Mass will begin at 10 am on Tuesday, July 1 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville, Texas, with a funeral burial following at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

So sorry to hear this sad news. Elaine and my mother were good friends and when I met her I instantly fell in love with her and we bonded very quickly. Her and Joe would tell people that they were my daughter's Godparents when they were not but they loved her that much. She has and will forever hold a special place in my heart. She left a lasting impression on me that I will never forget.
God has definitely got a spirited angel! Watch out Heaven here she comes!!

I met Elaine almost a year age when she moved into the assisted living facility that my mother lives in. Elaine had a quick wit and a very loving heart. She was so good with the other residents, my mom’s best friend at CCL. She always provided a good laugh with her stories. Scott, you were a great son and took good care of your mom. She will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Jo Ed, Scott, Donna and families. We have such fond memories of our years of love, laughter, good food and endless stories. We shared lots of joys and sorrows which gave us strength, encouragement and an unbreakable bond of friendship. Each of you are part of our extended family and we love you dearly.
