It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Michael Smith and family due to the recent, unprecedented Hill Country floods.

Michael Donamy Smith, 67, of Dripping Springs, Texas, met his Lord and Savior in the early hours of July 4th, 2025 in Hunt, Texas. He was born in Dallas, Texas, to Clarence ''Buck'' Smith and Ila Mae Duncan on January 30th, 1958.

He grew up and graduated high school in Caracas, Venezuela. He then moved to Texas where he studied at Baylor University. While attending Baylor, Mike also played on the Club Soccer Team and was involved in ministry at the University as well. After graduating, Mike moved to Houston, Texas, where he worked in IT for Texaco. It was at Texaco where he met the love of his life, Pamela Ouida Golden. They married on August 9, 1986 in Missouri City, Texas. He retired from Shell in 2017 as a Senior Business Analyst and resided in the Texas Hill Country after his retirement.

Mike was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was highly involved in his grandchildren's lives whether that was picking them up from school, going on ice cream dates, Saturday mornings at Home Depot or constantly spending time coloring or building forts. Mike was also involved with Relief Network Ministries and served as their Board Secretary for 15+ years. He enjoyed playing pickleball, riding his bike, Big Red, on and off road, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He always welcomed you with a big, warm, teddy bear hug and could make anyone in the room feel loved and welcomed.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Ila Mae Smith.

He was husband to Pam Smith; father to Mallory Carpenter and Madeline Smith, father-in-law to Brian Carpenter and Kathleen Cunnane; brother to Melody Wong and Melissa Portillo; son to Buck Smith; grandfather to Dalton and Blake Carpenter; uncle to Jeremy Wong, and Raquel, Miguel, and Rebeca Portillo as well as a cherished friend to many.

Celebration of Life to be held in the coming weeks in Dripping Springs, TX.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Ranger Derek who has graciously been with us throughout this experience and the numerous medical doctors and staff for saving our lives. Special thanks to all the first responders and the citizens of Hunt, Ingram, and Kerrville who have reached out, donated, volunteered, and prayed for our family. Words cannot express how much gratitude we have toward people across the Hill Country and our great state of Texas and beyond. We also would not be able to do any of this without our beautiful family and friends- thank you all.
