Dorothy was a strong, independent and sharp-witted woman. She served as County Treasurer of Kerr County for over 20 years. She was a proud Republican, a supporter of the NRA and a woman who believed in doing things right the first time. She also served as Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, a member of the First Baptist Church, and enjoyed the friendship and competition of her Bridge Club and a good glass of wine or two. She was also a gifted cook and seamstress.
Dorothy found lasting companionship with Robert Berryman with whom she shared over two decades of love, laughter and adventure. They traveled the world and enjoyed many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings - Mark Rains, Paul Rains, Sarah Grace, Charles Rains, Hugh Rains, Betty Synder and Joe Rains and two infant siblings.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Don McMinn, Jr., Brenda Hardy (Paris), and Norman Hilburn, Jr. (Kathy); her grandchildren, Kasie Dailey, Keri Parrish (Brandon), Nathan Hilburn, Trey McMinn (Hailey), and RJ McMinn; her great-grandchildren, Genevieve Abigail Hilburn, Kylee Hilburn, Alexis Koch, Kaden Hilburn, Caleb Dailey, Rachel Dailey, Ava Parrish, Levi Parrish, Oehler Ott McMinn, and Otto Real McMinn. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Dorothy lived a life of resilience, service, and strength. She will be remembered for her genuine friendship and generosity, her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ Our Savior and the love and devotion she gave her family.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

My sympathy and condolences to Brenda, Donnie, Norman, and your families. I purposed to attend services when I heard of her death but somehow missed the Memorial. Many fond and unique memories with each of you.
Because of alphabetical seating in school I was beside or behind Brenda in many classes.
Donnie helped me with my San Antonio Light paper route in our neighborhood riding on the back of my Honda 65 and him actually throwing the papers. I think he actually intentionally hit me in the back of the head some to get me to slow down. LOL We always got a good laugh out of it.
And enjoyed a church relationship with Norman and Kathy.
And many enjoyable conversations at the courthouse with your Mom when I would see her there and catch up on you all.
Regards,
Robby Hurt
