Charles Patrick Hastings, 54, of Kerrville, Texas passed away on March 2, 2026, in Kerrville, Texas. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Norman and Loretta Hastings on May 28, 1971.

Charlie attended Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, where he was a member of the varsity swim team. He then attended Texas A&M University, where he was a proud member of the class of 1993 and the Corps of Cadets, specifically the ''Savage Six Flying Tigers.'' While at Texas A&M, he met Toni Buck in the fall of 1991. He pursued her actively, even when she turned him down at first. His pursuit succeeded and Charlie and Toni were married on May 21, 1994. After graduation, he took his first job as City Engineer for Cedar Hill, then shortly after moved to Kerrville to be the City Engineer. He worked the last 12 years as Kerr County Engineer.

As a husband, he was devoted and faithful, always in love with Toni and letting her know. Toni had no doubt of his love for her. As a father, he was unmatched. He led his six children in creative adventures, always encouraging their imaginations and loving them to the fullest every step of the way. He instilled in them confidence, resilience, and a strong work ethic. Most importantly, he raised his children to love the Lord and serve Him well.

No matter the sport or activity his children were involved in, Charlie was there leading the way. He coached flag football, C-3 Swim Team, two of his daughters' volleyball teams, and the Kerr County 4-H robotics team. He LOVED commentating Feast Patriots' volleyball games. Over the past year, he helped his son Caden to rebuild his great-grandfather's 1953 Ford NAA Golden Jubilee tractor, which they showed in Kerrville, San Angelo and San Antonio. His presence meant that all the kids were having fun and developing lifelong skills.

Charlie was a man after God's own heart. His love for God and love for others was overflowing, as evidenced by his involvement in church and the community. He led worship at South Church, which he found absolute joy in doing. Recently, he invested in the young musicians at First Baptist Church Kerrville, leading the next generation to the throne through praise. He played an active role in the local homeschool community by serving on the board and teaching classes.

Charlie was strongly devoted to raising up men to be disciples of Christ. Since 1995, he passionately led an annual men's fishing trip to Lake Somerville. He welcomed everyone, and the list of attendees grew every year. He cultivated a brotherhood marked by Proverbs 27:17, relationships formed to sharpen each other as men and leaders. When the Hastings girls were old enough, he initiated a father-daughter camping trip to foster a spirit of adventure, create authentic memories and ensure his daughters knew they were cherished.

Charlie's mission in life was to love God, love others, and win souls over for Christ. He passionately loved his Savior, and is rejoicing with him now.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Norman Hastings; in-laws, Ron ''Butch'' and Carolyn Buck; and brother-in-law, Mike Fletcher.

Survivors include his wife, Toni Buck Hastings; children, Taryn Hastings, Hannah Rey (Ryan), Kendall Hastings, Darian Hastings (Cooper Dorries), Caden Hastings and Colton Hastings; granddaughter, Elaine ''Lainey'' Rey; mother, Loretta Hastings; siblings, Stephen Hastings (Erna), Denise Hastings, Darlene Smith (Toby) and Amy Fletcher. Charlie is survived by in-laws, Tyson and Traci Fitzpatrick and Ryan and Stacy Buck. Charlie was wildly blessed and loved intentionally by each of his many, many, many (16) nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30, Friday, March 6th at First Baptist Church Kerrville, 625 Washington St., Kerrville, Texas with Pastor Joey Tombrella officiating. Burial will follow at Boerne Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Caden Hastings, Ryan Buck, Tyson Fitzpatrick, Ryan Rey, Cooper Dorries, Joe Fix, Bobby Gore and David Robbins.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made through First Baptist Church Kerrville, Benevolence Fund for the ''Hastings Family.''

Working under Charlie was always a pleasure and an education. He always took time to hear our concerns and needs. I have always known him to be professional, kind and a proud Aggie. I know he loved his wife and kids dearly. I hope they can navigate forward in his absence. He was a good Christian man and will be missed by many.

May Charlie rest in sweet peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. One cannot fathom the horrific trauma and pain experienced by those impacted up close and personal during the tragic flooding last July 4th. My green ribbon is still tied around the tree in the front yard honoring the memory of the lost, the lost and not found, and all of the first responders (local and those that came from everywhere), county, state and federal officials responding to this devastating, unprecedented flood. Charlie was my late brother-in-law, Tony Green’s nephew in-law. This family is and will continue to be blessed with men the caliber of Tony and Charlie. My heart breaks for his much loved wife, Toni, and their 6 children. My sister (Jayne), Tony Green’s widow, and their girls, Rachel and Audrey, are devastated by the loss of Charlie. Prayers for peace and comfort for one and all. God moves very, very close to the broken hearted. God bless you, Theresa

Unable are the Loved to die
For Love is Immortality,
Nay, it is Deity

Unable they that love to die
For Love reforms Vitality
Into Divinity.

~Emily Dickinson

I am so grateful for the years we have worked together. I only knew a fraction of your life, but the warmth, care, concern, and dedication I saw in that fraction lets me know you led an incredible life and will be severely missed. Rest well Charlie, thanks for everything. <3
