Charlotte Louise Lesser
10/1/1944 - 2/16/2025

Charlotte Louise Lesser, 80, of Kerrville, passed away peacefully at her home on February 16, 2025.

Known as Louise to her family and friends and Grammy to her grandchildren, she was the third of four daughters born to Louis William Jackson and Charlotte May Van Horn on October 1, 1944. She spent her early years in Tulsa, Oklahoma, before settling in Texas. She lived in Midland/Odessa, Lubbock, and Houston before making her home in Kerrville, Texas, for the last 29 years.

Louise took pride in academics. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Midland and Texas Tech University with a double major in English and Political Science. She later returned to school to earn a master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas Permian Basin.

A lifelong public servant, Louise pursued her interest in education by working as an English and Government teacher at Robert E. Lee High School before serving as a crisis counselor within the Midland Independent School District. Upon moving to Kerrville, Louise took a similar role as a crisis intervention specialist at Tivy High School, where she served until her retirement. Louise cared deeply for her students and fought tirelessly to motivate and counsel those experiencing emotional distress, traumatic events, and critical situations. She was empathetic, a good listener, and an adept problem solver, qualities that were critically important in helping students navigate their most challenging life events.

Family and faith were both very important to Louise. She married Philip Anthony Lesser on May 14, 1972, and together they raised two daughters (Alison and Jessica) and one son (Tony). Her children later gave her three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a Christian and an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she made lifelong friends through its Sunday School and Bible study programs.

Louise loved the Texas Hill Country for its scenic views, strong sense of community, and abundant wildlife. She was active in multiple wildlife rescues in town and cared for many animals later in her life. She rescued multiple animals from abusive and neglectful situations and worked hard to ensure that every animal she encountered was appropriately cared for.

Louise is survived by her husband, Phil; daughter, Alison Eckerman; son-in-law, Troy Eckerman; daughter, Jessica Lesser; son, Tony Lesser; daughter-in-law, Carrie Vos; sister, Janet Ray; sister, Ann Ramsey; brother-in-law, Jerry Chapman; her grandchildren, Chloe, Caleb, and Jax; as well as her great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Abigail.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville, Texas, with Pastor John Wheat officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations and memorials be made to the VHL Alliance.
