Ralph Edward Wilfong

Ralph Edward Wilfong, age 82, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on January 19, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born on August 29, 1943, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, to Herman and Thelma (Wampler) Wilfong.
Ralph left a résumé filled with public service and adventure. Over his long career, he served as a paramedic, a pioneer of search and rescue training, a police officer, a rescue diver, a private pilot, and a survival instructor. He responded to disasters around the world, including leading search teams following major earthquakes in Mexico City and Armenia. He left behind a legacy of volunteerism that remains alive and well in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
In his later years, he operated a senior move management company with his late wife, DeAnne. He also devoted many hours to Christian discipleship through Bible studies and home fellowships.
He had recently relocated to Kerrville after spending the previous 24 years in Spokane, Washington, and was attending Citywest Church with his family.
Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Lee Wilfong, his wife, DeAnne Wilfong, and the mother of his children, Carol Beachy Johnson.
He is survived by his sons, Eric (Liz) and Sean (Holly); his grandchildren, Mateo, Madeline, and Lucas; and his sister, Betty Lou Martin.
Ralph has been laid to rest at Garden of Memories in Kerrville.
