I have been away from Kerrville and just learned of Dr. Wright's passing. He was a fine doctor and a very fine man. When I learned it was one of those "gasp" moments. I send my condolences to his wife, Jana, and his entire family.

I received my letter today(one sent to patients)
I am deeply saddened for Dr W’s family and
all his patients
He was one of a kind—truly personable,
knowledgeable, and professional
I know he leaves a huge void in his family,

I’ve read many post, here and elsewhere. I do agree. It was a great shock, and he will be greatly missed. I’ll personally miss his little subtle things he’d say to pick on me.
So I thought I take the opportunity to tell a story about Doug and my first encounter, my husband was rushed to the hospital, Doug ended up being doctor on call.
So my first encounter was this tall, handsome doctor in pressed jeans, cowboy boots, and a grin coming out in speaking to me after a procedure and saying “well, Mrs Lee, that boy don’t only have fleas he’s got ticks too.” I still smile telling that story.

Little did I anticipate later meeting his wife Jana and becoming good friends. A woman I call my Texas Best friend. My heart breaks for her in this great loss of her husband, confidant and best friend. The Wrights have been a true gift to my family and this community.

My late husband John and I both relied on Dr. Wright for his and his staff's care of us, and his way of explaining all problems. His humor and knowledge continued throughout the years. He was a rare, caring person.

Ande and I are devastated. He was a wonderful friend and Doctor to us for well over 30 years. Our visits to his office never ended until all our questions and concerns were addressed. That was his compassion.

During the time that I was in medical practice, he was always readily available for over the phone consults and saw referred patients very quickly, which was always a great relief to me, and most importantly to the patients. That was his caring.
We shall greatly miss his ready, smile, concern, sly sense of humor, and stories about his Dad. We cannot imagine the sadness, shock , loss, and grief of the kind Ladies in his office and wish them our deepest prayers.

We are overcome by his loss and our loss, but there is comfort in knowing that the The Great Physician and Healer in Heaven has joyfully welcomed another of his Earthly Healers into his Practice for all Eternity.
