Sally Sample Graves, the beloved daughter of Clark and Gladys Olvey Sample, was born on December 15, 1933, in Longview, Texas. She was preceded in death by her one older brother, Clark Sample Jr.

Sally graduated high school in Longview and later went on to study at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and the University of Texas in Austin. In 1953, she married Dr. Ghent Graves Jr., and together they raised two children: Clark Graves and Catherine Graves. Sally and Ghent were the proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Faith, family, and friendship were the cornerstones of Sally's life. She was a devoted member of her church and a woman of sterling character - kind, generous, and full of grace. A dedicated wife, loving mother, and a loyal, compassionate friend, Sally lived out the values she cherished, guided by her love of God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

Sally was known for her sharp intellect, quick wit, and gracious spirit. A consummate host, she had a special way of making others feel welcome and cared for, creating a beautiful home filled with laughter and hospitality. She was beloved by many, none more so than her late husband, Ghent. She spent her life performing innumerable, quiet acts of service - thoughtful, often unseen gestures that reflected her deep humility and love for others.

She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Although she passed away on July 4, 2025 during the devastating Hill Country floods - her family finds comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace and reunited with her loved ones in the presence of her Savior.

The family will receive guests on July 12, 2025, beginning at 1 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 202 Coronado Dr. N. in Kerrville, followed by the funeral service at 2 PM, officiated by Bishop Matt Huff. A private interment for family only will take place at Honey Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.

To the family of Sally Graves And to all those who cared for and loved her, I offer my heartfelt condolences. Prior to his passing, Dr. Graves was previously my patient. More recently, Sally became a patient also. I must say that I always enjoyed seeing Dr. Graves come in. He was soft spoken and often times head illuminating stories to tell. When I met Sally, it was easy to tell that she was blessed with an incredible wit and was very intelligent. I will remember both of them fondly.

Though I only knew Sally through her beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren who have settled in Wyoming, I am so moved by their stories of love and family and history. May your memories buoy you all - sending love and light from Sheridan. Vaya con Dios.

She was the epitome of southern grace and hospitality. She carried herself in such a way that you wanted to be in her presence, to learn and observe and walk away inspired to do better. Her love was unquestionable and you felt it when you were with her. I am grateful to have know her and loved her! Lifting the entire Graves family in prayers of strength, comfort and His peace, which passes all understanding.
