Earl J. Smith, age 82, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 5, 2019. He was born January 26, 1937 in Houston, Texas to Melvin and Charlotte (DeHart) Smith. He graduated from Lamar High School, Houston, Texas, in 1954. He was married to Joyce Smith on April 21, 1989; they were married 30 years. \r\n\r\nAfter retiring from Mrs. Bairds Bakery as a Regional Supervisor after 25 years, he worked in Outside Sales for M&D Distributors for 15 years. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Joyce Smith; his children, Terry and husband David Dye, David Holsonback, Tony Holsonback, Darrell and wife Marcella Holsonback, Debra and husband Casey Jobes, Michael Smith, Cheri and husband Willie Langer; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. \r\n\r\nThe graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, September 9, 2019 at Lakeland Hills Cemetery, Burnet, Texas. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 5 7 PM at Grimes Funeral Home, 728 Jefferson, Kerrville, Texas.\r\n\r\nFuneral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
