Dave Thomas, age 79, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022, peacefully at home in his "glorious bed" with his loved ones at his bedside.

Dave was born November 6, 1942 in Elk River, Minnesota to Virgil and Marie Thomas. On June 22, 1963, he married the love of his life, Marian Dorman. They had 6 children together. During their marriage, they lived in various towns in Minnesota, Anchorage, Alaska, Seattle, Washington and Kerrville, Texas.

Dave graduated from Elk River High School, where he was a goalie for the ice hockey team. He was given the unfortunate nickname, "The Sieve."

Throughout Dave's life, he had many talents and hobbies including golf, bowling, writing and photography. Dave loved taking road trips with his family throughout the United States. We have many fond memories of our days on the road. He was a great storyteller and he loved telling stories of his travels over the years. Dave was the kind of guy who knew the answer to every question and has even been referred to as a human encyclopedia.

He was a faithful husband and a fun father and grandfather. He was known in the family as being the "worst best babysitter." You might find Dave giving his grandkids a ride down the sidewalk on a lawnmower, involved in a great Nerf gun battle, or dramatically reading a book to them. He was a best buddy to many of his grandkids.

Dave could and would talk to anyone. He never met a stranger. He brought laughter to everyone he knew. We will dearly miss his stories and great sense of humor.

He is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Marian; his daughter, Leilanie; and sons, Terry and Schylur.

He is survived by his daughters, Corrinna Walter and husband, Steve of North Bend, Washington, Gillian Thomas of Kerrville, Texas, Kasey Nelms and husband, Charles of Portland, Texas; grandchildren, Sundae Oakes and husband, Trey, Cheyenne Thomas, Noel Jordan and husband, Wade, Rory Walter, Cam Fetters and Casey Hernandez; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Barrett Casias, and McCoy, Callahan and Stockton Jordan.

Per Dave’s request, no services will be held.

We would like to give a special thank you to his wonderful caregivers, Connie Venzor, Maricela Palacios and Saprina Martinez, and to Peterson Hospice for providing such loving support to Dave and the family.
