"Dear Jerre,
Doris was a dear friend for many years and we had a lot of gun together. She was one of the nicest people I met at Missour City Middle School. Doris was very unselfish and so loved her family. She will be missed..Love, Nora and Ken Rabby

"I was still in elementary school when Aunt Doris, visiting for a few days, suggested a book to me. I was a nerdy kid who played classical piano, enjoyed math, and read tons of books, particularly fantasy. I loved well written characters but I also loved to think. Doris, ever the teacher and extremely perceptive, suggested "A Wrinkle in Time" - She was adamant that I would love it. When I first looked at the book and saw the opening line, "It was a dark and stormy night," I couldn't resist. Soon I was lost in the land of Mrs. Whatsit and tesseracts. Although there are many things I think of when Aunt Doris comes to mind, that is always first. It is a book I have reread many times. So, as I say goodbye to Aunt Doris, I know that her dark and stormy night has passed and I hope that, among other things, she is happily reading a book. The next time I read "A Wrinkle in Time,", know that I will read it in honor of her."
