Jean Sanford of Kerrville passed away April 2, 2023, at the age of 92.
Born Emma Jean Wilkerson in Jackson, Mississippi to Mary and Stevie Wilkerson, she had one sister, Mary Catherine (Raborn).
Jean was raised in Kerrville, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Edgar Walter (Sammy) Sanford at Tivy High School, where she was a cheerleader. They were married in March 1949 until Sammy's death in 2012, after nearly 64 years together.
After marrying, Jean and Sammy moved first to San Antonio and then to Austin where they raised their two sons, Terry and Gregg.
After they both retired, they returned to Kerrville in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother and stepfather (J. O. Barger); sister; nephews, Jim and Mike Raborn; and her beloved husband, Sammy.
Jean is survived by her sons, Terry and Gregg (Brenda Burr).
