Mary Leegene Walker, at the age of 81, made her journey home to Jesus on April 5, 2024. She is leaving us with wonderful memories that we all will cherish. Mary was a treasured friend to so many and a prayer warrior for all. She often said she lived a very blessed life.

She was a beloved wife of 40 years to the late Howard Wayne Walker, an adored mother of Robert Earl Arbaugh, Jr. (Linda), Robin Marie Hisle (Brad), and Beth Marcelle Rue (Steve). She was a special second mother to Christi Gillies (Charles), Robbie Walker (Terri), and Rick Walker (Barbara). Mary was the sweetest grandmother of faith to 20 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 15 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She was a dear sister to Beecee Wilson, Rusty Duderstadt (Robin), and an adopted sister to Deanne McClure (Ray), and June Reimer (Bill). She was a beautiful daughter to M.R. (John) and Mildred Duderstadt who preceded her in death.

Mary attended school in Harper, Texas. Upon graduating from Tivy High School, she attended the University of Texas. There she met and later married Robert Earl Arbaugh. They lived in Fredericksburg, Texas for 18 years with their three children. Later, Mary married a dear high school friend, Howard Wayne Walker, in Temple, Texas. They lived at their ranch in Harper, Texas for the majority of their sweet time together and later in Kerrville, Texas.

Mary touched so many lives in her nursing career at Peterson Memorial Hospital in Kerrville, Texas for 25 years, before retiring. She loved weekly Bible study and fellowships, was very skilled with a crochet hook, an avid learner from reading, and loved Sunday church with her family.

Mary’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew and loved her fiercely. Her kindness, grace, compassion, and love for her family and friends will never be forgotten. She is completely whole and healthy again, with her sweet Jesus. We are all so blessed to have had our lives touched by this precious lady.

A Celebration of Life service for Mary will be held at Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville, Texas on Saturday, May 18, 2024, beginning at 10:30 AM. A family burial service will immediately follow in Harper, Texas.

"Aunt Mary was such a special person and all of us in the family loved her. She and Uncle Howard were always so welcoming in having us up to the ranch and I am so glad I was able to be part of a couple of “pajama” weekends. Mom and Dad, Aunt Josie, And Cousin Lucille and I, had the best time visiting and enjoying good food and sweet hospitality. I will cherish those memories. Aunt Mary taught me how to crochet one of her blanket patterns and was more than happy to help me get back on track even by phone while we were in New Hampshire! Remembering a beautiful Christian soul and sending our condolences to all her family and friends."

"It was an honor to study God's word with Mary at Bible Study Fellowship. Her love for her Lord and Savior was so evident in her knowledge of His word. It was an honor to know and love her. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."Psalm 116:15. With deepest sympathy. Edie Spalding"
