"You were a great person, song writer and animal lover. One of my favorite songs that you wrote "A Dog in the Sky" about a little white poodle(Mr. P) who came to you from a guy who was dying, had to check into M.D. Anderson who told you if he lived he would come back for Mr. P, and if he didn't you'd take care of him. Mr. P was Kinky's constant companion. As Kinky states, he thinks Mr. P went away to die and was killed possibly by coyotes. Listen to the story in "A Dog in the Sky"."

"It's hard to encapsulate all the ways I think Kinky made the world a better, funnier place; I think my childhood is forever enriched by the impact he had at Echo Hill, and I think we all benefitted from the originality of his voice on page and in song. May his memory be for a blessing.

My condolences to the family. My children, Louis and Phocion, called him Uncle Kinky and thought he was so hilarious. My husband Phocion was Kinky's tennis partner at Austin High School and ran around with Kinky in his car as he drove around to various girls' homes and blew the whistle. We enjoyed visiting with Kinky when he came to Houston for book signings and when we visited him at the ranch in Medina. He was always so gracious and welcoming to us. I tried to get in touch with him soon after Phocion's death (July 19, 2023). I like to imagine that Phocion and he are playing tennis again in eternity. I was so sad to hear about his passing and all the suffering he endured. He was such a gifted writer. I could not help but laugh out loud when reading his books. We love you Kinky and pray to see you again in eternity."
