Delba Dean Ayers, 89, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, and is now in the arms of Jesus, her Savior and Lord.

Delba was born in Mayfield, Kentucky, and her family moved numerous times before settling in Phoenix, Arizona, where she attended high school, married, and raised her children. In later adulthood, she earned a BA in Education and taught High School Home Economics for over ten years. Delba and her husband, Gene, moved to Kerrville, Texas, in 2003 where they retired and became active members of Trinity Baptist Church.

Throughout her life, Delba faithfully served her church and community by teaching women’s Bible studies, volunteering as a museum art docent, joining the Board of Directors at Grand Canyon University, mentoring young women through Christian Women’s Job Corp, and remaining active in other civic and social organizations.

Delba was a mentor, friend, and confidant to many, and she passionately loved her family and friends. She is remembered for her ready smile and infectious laughter, her positive attitude, and her kindness to those she encountered.

She is survived by husband, Richard Eugene (Gene) Ayers; sister, Pat Brock; children, Don Scott, Randy Scott (Lynn), Cindy Carden (Thom), and Penny Plavala (Erik); stepchildren, Shari French (Weldon) and Richard Ayers, Jr.; as well as 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christian Women’s Job Corps (cwjckerrcounty.org).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville, Texas. A private interment will be held by the family.
