Anne Elizabeth Duesterberg Baltuskonis passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, in Kerrville, Texas, shortly after celebrating her 80th birthday at home surrounded by family and dear friends.
Anne was born on February 10, 1946, in Houston, Texas, to Gerhard Joseph Duesterberg and Mary Roxsina Noe Duesterberg. She attended The Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in Houston and later graduated from Memorial High School before attending Texas Tech University. Anne earned certification in elementary and special education and spent several years teaching, bringing patience and care to the children she worked with.
Anne spent her life in Texas and embraced the outdoors and the people around her with an exceptional sense of adventure. She loved horses, gardens, dogs, and cats and had a special passion for raising and caring for quarter horses. She was happiest outside, whether riding, tending to animals, or enjoying the beauty of the land.
Anne was a private person who nonetheless never met a stranger. She loved to visit and had a quick wit and dry sense of humor that endeared her to friends. In the prime of her life, she especially enjoyed entertaining and bringing people together. She was a loyal friend and a woman of strong moral character who often helped those who crossed her path.
In 2004, Anne moved to Kerrville, Texas, where she made her home at Tierra Linda Ranch and enjoyed many years surrounded by the Hill Country she loved. She shared several years with her dear friend Randy Reegan, whose steady care and companionship brought Anne many smiles and much laughter.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph G. Baltuskonis; and her son, Christopher R. Horton.
She is survived by her two daughters, four grandchildren, her sister, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service celebrating Anne’s life will be held on Friday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember Anne.
