Julie Thompson Milam of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on May 22, 2026. She was born in Kerrville to Irene Jackson Thompson and William Franklin Thompson on February 11, 1949.
Julie graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville in 1967 and earned her degree in business from the University of Texas in Austin. She worked in Houston and eventually returned to Kerrville in the early 80's to join her sister, Kathy, as a partner in Creations, their nationally known quilt shop and retreat center. They were partners until the shop closed in July of 2023.
Julie devoted decades of her life to Creations. Her smile and hugs were sought after by many of her customers. "Is Julie here?" was often heard as customers entered the shop. Julie had many qualities that endeared her to everyone she met. Her smile, laugh, hugs and service to others will be remembered. She was blessed with the ability to make everyone feel special.
After retiring, Julie enjoyed volunteering at Kerr Konnect. She loved riding with clients and greeting each one with a special smile and hug.
Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Milam, and her parents.
She is survived by her sister, Kathy Thompson of Kerrville.
It is with great gratitude we thank Peterson Hospice and the staff at New Haven of Kerrville. She was treated with the utmost love and respect by both.
