Carol K. Talpey, 94, formerly of Kerrville, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Fort Worth.

Born and raised in Delaware but officially became a Texan when she and her husband Charles moved to Dallas in 1964, Carol lived a full and varied life. She was an inspiration for many because of her commitment to being spiritually, socially and physically active. She and her children enjoyed watching everyone's disbelief when they found out her real age. Carol travelled many times with her husband to visit their two daughters living in Europe, planning each trip's itinerary down to every great last detail. A lover of language and reading, she took an Italian course in preparation for their one and only trip to Italy.

Carol was a homemaker during the formative years of her three daughters, and as soon as the youngest was independent, she went back to work full time in the oil and gas industry. When times got tough in the oil industry, at age 55 she went to school at a local community college to refresh her skills, which landed her a new job quickly.

Carol and Charles' retirement years in Kerrville were probably their happiest. They had a wonderful life with many special friends. They especially loved Kerrville First United Methodist Church, and Carol remained a devoted Christian her entire life. In addition to her church life, she loved her aqua aerobics classes at the Center for Fitness, and her participation in Trailblazers. She was annoyed when, at 92 years old, she couldn't quite muster her usual 5k walks on Saturday mornings. So she slowed down to daily exercise classes at the gym and volunteered as a registrar at the walks.

Carol spent the last six months of her life in Fort Worth, at Stevenson Oaks, a lovely independent living community, to be closer to her daughter Barbara who lives in Fort Worth.  She quickly made many new friends and got involved in multiple social groups in a very short time.

She is survived by her daughters Catherine, Barbara and Ann; her niece Liese and nephews Ben and Don Jr.

She'll be missed by many.

Services will be held at Kerrville First United Methodist Church on Friday, July 24 at 10:00.

"A beautiful, spiritual lady has been lost to the world, but is with her Lord and savior! I knew Carol through our Fairway Drive prayer group. A group of ladies met each week at one another’s homes, many times in Carol’s, to read scripture and share thoughts. Carol was a gentle soul and we all miss her on Fairway Drive. My condolences to her daughters. I know you will be blessed with beautiful memories of your mother."
