Charles R. Barker, known as Ricky, was born on April 26, 1953, and passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, love, laughter, hard work, and family traditions that will live on through the generations.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Williams; his stepfather, T.J. Williams; and his sister, Deletta Andres.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Roberta, the love of his life; his sons, Donovan Barker, James Barker, and Jeff Barker; his grandchildren, Charlie, Avery, Clayton, Colton, Amber, Jordan, Cameron, and Franchesca; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Mickey, and his wife, Janna; his brother-in-law, Fred Andres; and many nieces and nephews.
Ricky was a true outdoorsman and a man who loved the land. He especially treasured his log cabin, which he built with his own hands. He loved his Chickasaw heritage, his land, hunting, gardening, raising animals, and the natural spring on his property. He had a special appreciation for arrowheads, music, and a good joke. But above all else, Ricky loved his family and his wife, Roberta.
A hardworking and talented builder, Ricky and his family built many log cabins and custom homes throughout the Texas Hill Country. He later went on to build nursing homes throughout Texas and across the US, leaving behind not only structures, but also a lasting testament to his craftsmanship, determination, and dedication.
Some of Ricky’s most treasured memories were made with his grandchildren. They will always remember his love of music and the way he taught them to sing “American Pie.” Those moments of music, laughter, stories, and togetherness are among the gifts he leaves with them.
Ricky lived life in his own way—with his hands in the dirt, his boots on his land, music in the air, and his family close to his heart. His stories, jokes, hard work, and love will continue through his children and grandchildren.
Rest in peace, Ricky. You were deeply loved, greatly missed, and will never be forgotten.
A private memorial is planned for the future.
