It is with the heaviest hearts we announce the death of Jesusa (Susie) Medrano Madrid. On September 14, 2026, the world lost a shining beacon of strength, energy, and immense beauty. She peacefully passed in her sleep in her home in Ingram, TX.
Susie was born December 25, 1934, in Kerrville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cecilia Medrano; father, Juan Medrano; older brothers, Valentino and David Medrano; younger brother, Henry Medrano; husband, Ramiro Madrid; beloved daughter, Elena Madrid; and sons, Louis and Joey Madrid.
Susie is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Eddie) Saldana and Margaret Madrid and son, Sam Madrid; by three grandchildren, Teresa (Brett) Smith, Matthew Saldana, and Morgan Madrid; two great-granddaughters, Chesney Dehoyos and Charlize (Benjamin) Block; and adoring nieces.
Susie, or Memo as family and close friends knew her, was a strong, fearless and hardworking woman. Serving as the matriarch of the family since the death of her husband in 1985, she strove to lift her people up and seek out knowledge, ideas, and experiences. Never satisfied with the bare minimum, she excelled in making murals out of blank canvases. Her humor, advice, and creativity are just a few things that will be dearly missed of Memo. Her passion for nature and love of Bible knowledge drew her closer to her beloved Creator Jehovah God. Susie believed that she will live again, on a paradise earth restored to its original beauty, and so she will be also-young and healthy, living forever with the family that she did everything possible for. We await this day with great expectation. We eagerly look forward to the day we will hear her laugh again, the cadence of her voice, and experience the warmth and safety you felt in her presence.
As a family, we are eternally grateful for each moment and memory we can reflect back on as we remember and celebrate the life she lived.
We love you, we miss you, and we cannot wait to see you again Memo.
At the family’s request, there will be no public service held. And in lieu of flowers, we encourage all to shine with brilliance as did our beloved Mother; Grandmother; Great-Grandmother; Aunt; Memo; Advisor; Confidant; Friend: Susie Madrid.
And a special thank you to Embrace Hospice Nurses for their exceptional care.
