Sheldon Irvin Grabill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at his home with his devoted wife by his side.
Sheldon was born on March 31, 1940, in Goshen, Indiana, to Irvin and Helen Grabill. He married Patricia Ahrens on June 15, 2013, in Kerrville, TX.
He founded and retired from his home painting and decorating company in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, before moving to the Texas Hill Country.
From an early age, he learned the value of hard work and perseverance, lessons he carried with him throughout his life. He was clever and full to the brim of knowledge gained through all his life experiences. He will be remembered for his wonderful ability to fix or build anything such as creating furniture from the cedar on his property and building his cabin in Canada. He truly lived life to the fullest through his love of traveling the country in his RVs, restoring and showing his classic cars, as well as fishing and hunting.
Sheldon was known as an adventurer most of all and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was intelligent with an unbelievable work ethic. One of his dear friends would often tell Sheldon that he was very smart, “but pretty rough around the edges”. Most of all, he will be remembered for having a kind heart and always ready to help others.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, his daughter Karla Scribner, grandson Chase, daughter-in-law Kaylie, and great grandchildren Avery, Jemma, and Jovie; his daughter Karen, two great-grandsons; his son Robert, three granddaughters of Indiana; one sister Marlene Eash of North Dakota. Sheldon was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Irvin Grabill.
The family wishes to extend a sincere appreciation to the Peterson Hospice nurses and caregivers for their compassion, excellent care of Sheldon, and support for the family.
