Paul Vanderveen, 91, of Kerrville, TX, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by faith, love, service, and devotion to his family.
Paul was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served his country with honor. He lived a long and meaningful life and was deeply devoted to his faith in God. Throughout his years, Paul remained faithful to the Lord, finding comfort and strength in his relationship with Him.
Paul will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He was a true jokester, always ready with a quick-witted remark, a playful comment, or a joke that could bring a smile to those around him. His quick wit and lighthearted nature were a special part of his personality, and his family and friends will surely miss the laughter and joy he brought into their lives.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Gerrie; his children, Beth Hershberger (Rex), Pat Edwards (Charles), Linda Hooten (Steve), Dwight Vanderveen (Wanda), and Lisa Thomas (Gary); nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren, who were an important part of his life and legacy. The memories he created with his family, along with the faith he passed down, will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Though he will be deeply missed, his family can find comfort in knowing that Paul’s faith remained steadfast throughout his life. His earthly journey is complete, and his hope was always in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Rev. Don Davis. Visitation will precede the service from 1-2 PM.
Graveside services will be held at 10:45 AM, Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation in Paul’s name.
